Second Hand iPhone 8 - The Cheapest iPhone You Can Still Live On
The iPhone 8 is the honest answer to "what is the cheapest usable iPhone in 2026?" It runs iOS 16, which means WhatsApp, UPI apps, and today’s essentials still install and work. You get Touch ID, wireless charging, a genuinely pocketable body, and Apple build quality — for a used price that undercuts most new budget Androids.
The honest caveats: major iOS updates have ended, so its runway is comfortable-but-finite — think one to two more years of easy daily use. And at seven to nine years old, battery health decides everything: a unit with a fresh or healthy battery is worth choosing over a cheaper tired one. Every ORUphones listing is IMEI-verified and condition-declared, so you know which is which before you meet the seller.
What you are actually getting in 2026
- Runs iOS 16 — WhatsApp, UPI, and current essentials work today.
- Touch ID + wireless charging + compact one-hand size.
- Major updates have ended — fine now, plan for a 1-2 year runway, not five.
- Battery health is the whole game at this age — prefer listings with battery notes or a replaced battery.
- 64GB is the common variant; fine for essentials, tight for heavy photo libraries.
Who this phone is right for — and who should skip it
- Right for: first iPhone on a tight budget, compact-phone lovers, a dependable secondary/work phone.
- Want longer software runway and a bigger screen for similar money stretched slightly? The iPhone XR is the next step up.
